Afghans won’t be allowed to buy property in Pakistan
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan will soon frame a policy regulating the stay of Afghan refugees in the country, the interior minister has said.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Thursday, ChaudhryNisar Ali Khan said successive governments had to deal with the burden of millions of refugees.
“Now is the time to prepare a comprehensive national policy on the issue,” he said, hinting at new the announcement of new rules for the Afghans living in Pakistan.
On the return of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from London, he said, a meeting would be held on setting principles for the Afghan refugees to stay in the country.
“Pakistan had shown a goodwill gesture and permitted Afghan refugees to stay here but they (refugees) fail to abide by rules and regulations after entering the country,” the minister lamented.
The first principle is support from the international community and the second is that no refugee would be allowed to purchase property in Pakistan, according to Nisar.
