6 militants killed, 5 detained in Logar, Kunduz raids

PUL-I-ALAM/KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Six militants have been killed and five others arrested in central Logar and northern Kunduz provinces, officials said on Tuesday.

Two Haqqani Networkinfo-icon fighters were killed and five others detained by security forces in an overnight raid in Logar, said a statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon).

The intelligence service identified the detainees as Gul Rahman Rahmani, Bator Nasrat, Commander Jalil, Anar Gul and Tila Mohammad.

A large quantity of weapons, including 30 boxes of anti-aircraft bullets, six mortar shells, 16 rockets and a pistol, were recovered from the insurgents.

Separately, four Talibaninfo-icon were killed and six others wounded during a clash with security forces in Kunduz province.

Police spokesman Inamullah Rahmani said the overnight clash erupted after the Taliban attacked police check-posts in the area.

Lt. Mahfoozullah Akbari, police spokesman for the northeastern zone, said Afghan forces pounded militant positions in the Dasht-i-Arch district.
