CEO reaffirms government commitment to women empowerment

May 18, 2017 - 14:08

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah has reiterated government commitment to womeninfo-icon empowerment and said women role in peace and stability of the country was of immense importance.

Appreciating the women’s participation in the fourth international symposium of Afghan women under ‘Women, the messengers of peace’ Abdullah on Wednesday evening said striving for peace was a sacred goal but it was becoming more valuable when women participate in such efforts.

Afghan women at the current time could easily explain their demands and defend their rights and no one could enforce their political agenda to prevent the empowerment and development of women, he said.

CEO hailed women’s participation in the symposium and said, “We hope the result of the symposium would be positive for women’s empowerment and independence,”

A civil societyinfo-icon activist, Anis Gul Akhgar, shared the resolution letter of the symposium with Abdullah and asked for government support in the regard.

Nabila Musleh, deputy women affairs minister, also presented a brief report of the symposium held for women of the northern region in northern Balkh province.

Abdullah promised the national unity government was committed for the implementation of the resolution of the symposium particularly about women’s participation in the peace process.

Abdullah said the government was comprehensively supporting women’s initiative of taking part in the peace process, a top priority of the Afghan people.

The three-day symposium begun on May 15 and ended on Wednesday.
