KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): A former Russian ambassador says America’s military campaign in Afghanistaninfo-icon has failed and the US needs to withdraw its troops from the war-devastated country.

"Moscow has never hastened the withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan. But as far as the US army cannot do anything, let them leave Afghanistan.

“The American campaign in Afghanistan has failed. Afghanistan can become the worldinfo-icon incubator of international terrorism. Actually, it partially is," Zamir Kabulov said in an interview.

He told the Izvestiya newspaper that Russia was against the replacement of the regular US army with contract soldiers in Afghanistan. The question has been widely discussed in military circles of Washington.

“The US is in despair; the plan to change the professional soldiers into the contract soldiers is nonsense. It will not bring anything good: contract soldiers will simply escape. They conscript them for the money from the world. How are they going to fight against the Talibaninfo-icon?" asked the diplomat.

Also special representative of the Russian president in Afghanistan, Kabulov is currently the director of Second Department of Asian States at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
