US, UK embassies wish happy Eid-ul-Adha to Afghans

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The US and United Kingdom (UK) embassies in Kabul wished happy Eid-ul-Adha to the people of Afghanistaninfo-icon on Thursday.

“US Embassy in Kabul and I extend our best wishes to the people of Afghanistan on the occasion of Eid al-Adhainfo-icon,” said Special Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador Hugo Llorens.

He says Thousands of Afghans have attended the annual Hajjinfo-icon pilgrimage with millions of Muslims from around the worldinfo-icon, and they will soon begin returning home with a message of peace, dedication, and compassion. 

The envoy said millions of American Muslims would also mark Eid by reaching out to those in need and celebrating in the company of their family and friends.


“As President Trump made clear in his recent announcement of the new U.S. policy on Afghanistan, the United States will continue to stand with the people of this country and their government as they pursue a secure and prosperous future for Afghanistan,” the statement quoted Llorens as saying.  “Once again, we wish you a joyous and peaceful Eid al-Adha!”

In a Separate statement, the ambassador of UK Nicholas Kay wished all Afghans a happy and joyful Eid-ul-Adha and congratulated all those who have been in Hajj this year.

“During these important days of celebration, I would like to wish all Afghans a happy and joyful Eid-ul-Adha and congratulate all those who are going on Hajj this year.”


“Eid-ul-Adha is a time for compassion and unity. Muslims all over the world, including in the UK, will gather with family and friends to celebrate and help those less fortunate than them,” he said.

The envoy hailed sacrifices of the people of Afghanistan and security force for the sake of this country.

 “In the spirit of solidarity and friendship and as part of our long-term commitment to Afghanistan, I can assure you that the United Kingdom will continue our full support to the Government of Afghanistan’s efforts to build a prosperous and peaceful future for all its citizens.”
