KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan and Norwegian foreign ministers have extended a strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries until 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in Kabul said on Thursday.

According to a statement from the ministry, acting foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani and his Norwegian counterpart Børge Brende met in New York late on Wednesday.

The two sides agreed on extending the strategic agreement on political, security, economic and development cooperation. The pact was signed in February 2013.

The MoFA said that the agreement was extended on Wednesday. Salahuddin and his Norwegian counterpart also stressed support for an Afghanistaninfo-icon-led peace process.

Rabbani congratulated Norway on its successful election process and discussed the new US policy for Afghanistan. He called for continued cooperation between the two countries.
