2 policemen, land authority officer gunned down in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok) Two policemen and a land authority officer have been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in two separate incidents in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that two police personnel were gunned down by unknown armed men in Angor Bagh area of Jalalabad, the provincial capital on Tuesday evening.

He said the incident occurred when the policemen were on duty in the checkpoint, the accused men managed to flee the area.

Mohammad Asif, an eyewitness and resident of the area said, the attackers riding a motorcycle were two young men who managed to escape after the incident.

Elsewhere in the province, Khogyani said a land authority officer named Sarajudding was gunned down by an unidentified man traveling with the officer in his car as passenger in Barikab area of Batikot district on Tuesday.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the attacks.
