Direct flights between Mazar-i-Sharif-New Delhi begin

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): First flight from the Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi Airport in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, took off on Monday for New Dheli’s Andria Gandi Airport in India, an official said.

Mazar-i-Sharif Airport in charge Mohammad Asif told Pajhwok Afghan News two direct flights to New Dehli would be flying in a week. He said residents of nine provinces in North Zone of the country would reap the benefit of the facility.

Mohammad Afzal Hadid, head of the Provincial Council (PC), said the residents of Northern Zone of the country faced multiple problems while traveling to India.

He said people from Northern Province had to travel to Kabulinfo-icon first from where the caught the flights for New Delhi.

Manish, India’s consul general in Mazar-i-Sharif, said direct flights from different cities of Afghanistaninfo-icon to India was sign of improved relation between Afghanistan and India.

He said more flights and connectivity was vital for greater economic and trade relation between the two countries.
